Philoptochos News (Friends of the poor)
Almost everyone on our list of 50 + years of service with Philoptochos was able to attend the luncheon we had on Sept. 20th.
List of Honorees
Frances Andreades, Olga Bougioukas, Ethel Catranis, Stella Chronas, Kathryn Coumanis, Eugenia Eftaxa, Xania Gulas, Anna Hartzes, Rose Karagan, Irene Lignos, Genie Lukes, Mary Pafudakis, Emily Panayiotou, Sophia Pappas, Penny Patronas, Zenia Roussos, Arta Sideris, Katherine Spyridon and Mary Theodore
It was so nice to see ladies that have not been able to participate in Church and Philoptochos because of various reasons, at the luncheon. We apologize if we left out anyone. We want to thank Elaine Roussos for finding out about the honorees and the number of years of service. She also did an excellent job as MC. The plants that she and Lia Tsounis purchased for the tables were lovely! We want to also thank Irene Lignos for making the Icon of our Blessed St. Ephium. Also thank you to Despina for the cake that was beautiful and delicious too. In addition, many thanks go out to John Moralis, Dale Greenstein and George Koulianos for the meal, Gena Nuttle for giving out tickets, etc., Irene Hartzes for collecting tickets (welcome back, we missed you!), Nick Tsounis for picture taking, Maria Papastefan and Betty Lou Moralis for serving along with everyone else who helped serve. Betty Lou thanks also for the 50 year pins, they were great!!! Additional thanks to Fr. Elias and Fr. Grigorios for their blessings and kind words.
I hope I haven’t left anyone off!

CHRISTMAS ANGEL TREE IT IS NOT TOO EARLY TO BEGIN COLLECTING ITEMS FOR THE GIFT BAGS. THEN WHEN YOU GET THEIR WISH LIST ITEM YOU CAN ADD IT. LAP THROWS ARE CONSTANTLY BEING OFFERED IN THE FALL AT GREATLY REDUCED PRICES SO KEEP YOU EYES OPEN FOR THE DEALS
Last year because of your generosity we reached our goal and every resident received a gift. It is our prayer that we will continue to have a gift for each resident to open. All gift bags will be delivered the week before Christmas.
God bless you for your continued spirit of giving. Elaine Roussos, Chairman
Sponsored by Ladies Philoptochos Society
Again this year, Philoptochos will collect gifts for Christmas and bring joy to the residents of Seabreeze Healthcare Center, who rarely receive a gift or visit during the holiday season.
An Angel Tree will be placed in the church narthex in November. The tree will be decorated with angels that will list the resident’s name and wish list. Please choose one or more of the angels and we would like you to fill a Christmas gift bag and attach the angel to it. A table will be set up (after Greek Fest) across from Father Elias’s office to receive the finished gift bags. In addition to the wish lists, the lap throws, toiletries, and large print Bibles have always been a hit. This year you may also add sugar free soft candy, sugar free peppermints or any other edible sugar free goodie.
****We have 67 fleece throws that we know of, great job! We need to collect a total of 120, so please keep up the good work!
